Our inspiration for this shoot was classical botanical, taking influence from historical paintings and fine art - think moody still life fruit and flowers with a modern twist.
We knew botanical and foliage was going to be big this year, especially fern, so we wanted to create a look that really had botanics at it's heart. Instead of going down a light and airy floral route, we tried to go for something a little darker, a little more sultry.
Foliage was literally trailing through every part of this shoot to bring together all the botanical details. From the table runner to the bride’s hairpiece, we mixed fruit and florals to create a look that could have been in a painting itself. The dark colours of the backdrop were echoed through the tablescape and even the bridal look, but always teaming them with more feminine elements like soft fabrics and delicate blooms to achieve the right visual balance and heighten the sense of drama.
We paired moody hues of plum, burgundy and lush green with lighter, feminine colours like blush to create a really truly dynamic look. Hints of antique silver with soft candlelight were just perfect for the tone of the shoot.
