Fictional Follies: Morticia and Gomez Addams

In the month of Halloween it seems only fitting that we honour one of the most romantic, beautiful and passionate couples of all time - Morticia and Gomez Addams.

There is an Addams family for every generation. We personally grew up with Angelica Houston and Christina Ricci in the 90s film versions but we've taken inspiration from the original 1960s TV show as well.

It should come as no surprise that the colour palette is distinctly black, black and even more black, but come on, its a wedding, so we've thrown some sumptuous red velvet in there too.

Morticia and Gomez don't tend to mix with anyone but their family so its a small affair with a roll for everyone. Cousin It will officiate, Uncle Fester will give Morticia away, Wednesday is a bridesmaid, Pugsley will be Gomez's best man and Thing and couldn't be anything but the ring bearer.

The evening ceremony will be in their own home with a graveyard reception so their dearly departed family members can enjoy the celebrations as well.

A bouquet of black roses for Morticia and Wednesday will be carrying her Marie Antoinette headless doll up the aisle. Morticia and Gomez will make their vows in wicker chairs underneath bunting of homemade white paper dolls glinting in the moonlight which comes in through the window behind them while Lurch wipes away a tear with a dainty lace handkerchief.

The dinner table will be laid with taxidermy centrepieces and antique candlesticks. A red velvet runner across the length of the table will add some colour and style to the macabre affair.
