REVELRY EVENTS 2023
WEDDING TRENDS REPORT
Phew, 2022 was as big a year for the wedding industry as predicted - with the most number of weddings taking place this year since 1987. A mix of COVID postponements and a general sense of joie de vivre from a miserable few years meant that 2022 was packed full of weddings big and small. And we’re all just about catching our breath…
We won’t see the volume of weddings in 2023 decrease by much, as the knock-on effect pushes into next year. So be prepared to see even more creativity, boundary pushing and exciting ideas come to life in the next 12 months. Let’s dive into what we think we’re going to see!
GEN Z AESTHETICS + BACK TO BASICS
Despite being middle-of-the-road Millennials, we can appreciate the nuanced, colourful pattern-clashing throwback styles of the younger generation - and we’re loving how it’s manifesting itself in decor and wedding trends. We’ve even taken a leaf out of their book in our new branding - a flirty, modern non-matchy mix of lilac and lime that we’re super into.
In contrast, we’re also seeing a real swing back to low-key colour palettes come through - a clean look white on white, tonal neutrals and minimalist details. Back-to-basics in a way that looks anything but basic.
FLUTING
Is it too much of a stretch to credit Lizzo for the flute trend? Probably. Either way we’re seeing a lot of fluting, pleating and ribbing in design trends for 2023 in home decor as well as wedding fashion. We love how modern it feels and how you can contrast and artfully clash with other textures to create a really dynamic look.
FIRST LOOKS + EXIT PLANS
The first look is nothing new to UK weddings, since the adorable American tradition started making its way over here a few years ago, but we’re definitely seeing an uptick in couples asking for it. It’s a lovely moment for just the two of you, and can take the pressure off the aisle walk later on - not to mention it’s a cracker of a photo op.
More thought is being put into the end of the night photo ops. Sparkler send-offs are on their way out - they are faffy and take way longer than you think, and there’s a short window where everyone’s sparkler is alight. Instead, people are going for glow-sticks or confetti cannons for their big send-off at the end of the night. Couples are putting more thought into the ‘last dance’ to make sure they are really going out on a high before all their guests peel off.
AUDIO GUEST BOOKS + LIVE ART
Audio guest books are having a moment - with the voice-led alternative gracing many a wedding this year and beyond. The idea that you get to capture the sounds and well-wishes of your guests instead of reading their increasingly illegible hand-writing throughout the night, is a fun one.
Another wedding entertainment element having a comeback this year is live wedding art, and we’re going to see it continue into 2023 as well. Having a pro capture your wedding scenes on canvas is such a precious keepsake, and your guests will love having their portraits done later in the night.

CHAMPAGNE TOWERS + THE ANTI-WEDDING CAKE
You could argue it’s about time the wedding industry came up with something to rival the cake-cutting moment for the more modern couple, and we think the rise of champagne towers might just be it. This year has seen a big increase in couples asking for them and we’re going to see this carry on in 2023.
Speaking of wedding cake, we’re also seeing a heck of a lot more minimalism for cake design. Single tiers, bold fonts - a nod to a cake for the anti-wedding couple.
Sartorial
One stand-out 2023 bridal trend will make you the something blue, which we’re loving. Soft, romantic and still kind of Bridgerton-esque, carrying over from last year’s Regency-inspired trend prediction.

The 80s are the decade of choice to influence popular culture in 2023, and that appears to be manifesting itself in bridal fashion in a few ways - big, dramatic 80s puff or off the shoulder sleeves (or both!) and the fun and flirty reception supermodel mini-dress.
